Perfect for use at home or on trips, this mechanical diet scale from Salter is lightweight, stores compactly with a snap-on lid inside its own weighing container, and is absolutely easy to use. The scale measures items weighing up to 16 ounces (500 g) in precise 1/4-ounce (5 g) increments, making it ideal for dietary or baby needs.

Made of durable plastic that wipes clean, the scale features a 2-3/4-inch round dial and a small platform that snugly weds the underside of the weighing container. After the container is positioned in place, simply turn the knob until the dial needle registers zero. Add and weigh food as needed, resetting to zero after each ingredient if desired. If acidic or strongly colored foods such as oranges, curries, and tomatoes are to be weighed, it’s a good idea to line the container with plastic wrap first. The container is dishwasher-safe, but should not be used in a microwave.
